PROVENANCE

London, collection of Christopher Beckett Denison. His sale, June 6, 1885, cat. 1062: “WATTEAU. THE CHAMPS ELYSÉES / 13½ in by 17 in.” According to an annotated copy of the sale catalogue in the National Art Library, Victoria and Albert Museum, the picture sold for £29.8.0 to Watson.

REMARKS

Nothing is known of this painting except its measurements and the title under which is appeared in 1885. It was essentially the same size as the original in the Wallace Collection.
