This paintings is not after Watteau but, rather, it is a faithful copy of a well-known composition by Nicolas Lancret, the Danse entre les deux fontaines. This explains the inscripiton on the reverse side: "Kopie nach No 784 der Gemäldegalerie zu Dresden. 1922 7."
