REMARKS

This copy of Watteau's composition was owned c. 1927 by Georges Bara's father. A photograph and correspondence from Georges Bara are on file in the Service de documentation, Département des peintures, Musée du Louvre. The painting corresponds in size and direction to the Moyreau engraving, but there are certain differences here, such as the addition of foliage at the right side.
